The Print Resolution Problem

Gemini outputs images at 1024x1024 pixels. That sounds reasonable until you try to print it. At the industry-standard 300 DPI, that gives you a print size of roughly 3.4 x 3.4 inches. That's smaller than a Post-it note.

For anything larger — book covers, posters, T-shirt graphics, framed prints — you need significantly more resolution. A standard 6x9 inch book cover at 300 DPI needs 1800x2700 pixels. A poster at 300 DPI needs thousands of pixels in each dimension.

Simply resizing the image in Photoshop doesn't work. Standard upscaling algorithms just stretch the existing pixels, creating a blurry, obviously low-resolution result. You need AI-powered upscaling that actually generates new detail.

That's exactly what our HD upscale does. For $2 per image, Clarity AI takes your 1024x1024 Gemini image to 2048x2048 — that's 4x the total pixels — with genuine new detail, not blur.

How Our Upscaler Works

We use Clarity AI, a neural network-based upscaler that works fundamentally differently from traditional resize algorithms.

Instead of simply stretching pixels (which creates blur), Clarity AI analyses the content of your image and generates new, plausible detail. It understands textures, edges, faces, and text. The result is an image that genuinely looks like it was generated at the higher resolution, not stretched from a smaller one.

Clarity uses tile-based processing, which means it can handle any input size without running into GPU memory limits. Each tile is processed independently and then seamlessly stitched together. This is why it works reliably on all Gemini image sizes.

The cost is $2 per image. One-time. No subscription. No account. We charge because the AI upscaling runs on actual GPU infrastructure, but we've kept the price as low as we reasonably can.

Print Resolution FAQ

For professional printing, you generally need 300 DPI (dots per inch). At 1024x1024 pixels, a Gemini image can print at roughly 3.4 x 3.4 inches at 300 DPI — that's tiny. After our HD upscale to 2048x2048, you can print at roughly 6.8 x 6.8 inches at 300 DPI. For larger formats, you may need to use lower DPI (150 DPI is common for posters viewed from a distance).

When you resize an image in Photoshop (or any standard editor), it uses interpolation — essentially blurring pixels to fill in the gaps. The result looks soft and obviously upscaled. Our HD upscale uses Clarity AI, a neural network that genuinely adds new detail based on what it understands about the image content. The difference is night and day.

The $2 gets you a single image upscaled from 1024x1024 to 2048x2048 using Clarity AI. That's a 2x increase in both dimensions, meaning 4x the total pixels. The result is a high-quality PNG file ready for professional use. It's a one-time payment per image — no subscription, no account required.

Absolutely — that's actually one of the main reasons we built this tool. We run Obooko, an online book community, and we use Gemini for book cover concepts all the time. At 2048x2048, you have enough resolution for most digital book covers and smaller print covers. For very large print editions, you may want to use the upscaled image as a background element and add text and graphics at print resolution in your design tool.

The watermark removal is instant (milliseconds, in your browser). The HD upscale typically takes 20-60 seconds as it's processed by Clarity AI on our servers. You'll see a progress indicator while it works. The watermark removal step is always free — you only pay $2 if you choose the HD upscale.
